So far my GAME plan is coming along well. My two goals are to (1) promote and model digital citizenship and (2) engage in professional growth and leadership. As far as the digital citizenship is concerned, a colleague gave me an excellent website (http://www.isafe.org/) that has lesson plans to help teachers inform their students about using the Internet in a safe and ethical way. I want to check into this website more and use their resources. I am still tying to model good digital citizenship in my classroom. It really takes a conscious effort to cite all the materials that I use in my classroom. I want to continue to model good use of the Internet.
As far as engaging in professional growth and leadership, I love discussing with other teachers new ways to integrate technology into my lesson plans. I have been attending our monthly technology meetings where a couple teachers in our school highlight various types of technology that can be integrated into the classroom. These meetings have been very informative and have given me lots of ideas to use in my classroom. I would like to eventually contribute to these meetings and that is a new goal I have for my GAME plan.

It sounds like your GAME plan is going really well. I am intrigued by the website you provided and I am definitely going to check it out and use in my classroom too.
ReplyDeleteI think your monthly tech meetings sounds really productive. What a great way for coworkers to share thoughts, ideas, and new technology. I'm sure that in the near future you will be able to contribute to these meetings with great success. Great job with your GAME plan and all of your other contributions that you are making to your school!
Hi Kara,
ReplyDeleteOne suggestion I have that may help - I know I felt I wasn't getting enough colleague interaction time - is setting up a blog for you and your teachers. You can keep it private and post thoughts and ideas to it for other teachers to read and discuss without having to worry about how and when you are going to meet. Just an idea!
Hi Kara -
ReplyDeleteI think it's really cool that your school has technology meetings, too! In my school, many teachers don't have the time or the tools to use technology in their classes, so contributing to a meeting where some teachers may have found easy ways to use technology in their classrooms would be a relief! I think you'll be able to contribute to that meeting in no time with the amount of new technology we learn in Walden classes.
I have also heard good thinkgs about www.isafe.org, but I haven't had the time to check out its resources.
Mike,
ReplyDeleteI like your idea about a blog where teachers can post ideas as they have time. That way, teachers will always have access to the information.
Bethanne,
One of our classmates suggested that website to me. I have checked it out enough to know you have to have a subscription to access their lesson plans, but it would be worth it to teach students about digital citizenship.

Kara,
ReplyDeleteI'm glad to hear your GAME Plan is on track. Those technology meetings can be quite useful. Even though many times we may not learn about a new technology, other teachers often come up with some pretty creative ways to use it. I like hearing what others are doing with technology in their classroom so I can modify what they are doing to meet my needs.
